Sri Lanka Endemic Birding Tour – 10 Days

Day 1: Arrival & Birding in Kitulgala

• Arrival in Sri Lanka.
• Transfer to Kitulgala – one of the best lowland rainforests for endemic birds.
• Afternoon birding around the forest edge and riverine habitats.

Day 2: Full Day Birding in Kitulgala

• Explore Makandawa Forest Reserve and surrounding areas.
• Key species: Sri Lanka Blue Magpie, Green-billed Coucal, Chestnut-backed Owlet.

Day 3: Morning Birding in Kitulgala & Transfer to Nuwara Eliya

• Early morning birding session.
• Transfer to Nuwara Eliya via scenic hill country.
• Optional stop at Victoria Park for highland species.

Day 4: Birding in Horton Plains National Park

• Full morning at Horton Plains – best spot for Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush.
• Look for: Sri Lanka Bush Warbler, Yellow-eared Bulbul, Dull-blue Flycatcher.

Day 5: Transfer to Tissamaharama (via Ella or Wellawaya)

• Birding en route through changing habitats.

• Overnight in Tissamaharama.

Day 6: Full Day Safari in Yala National Park

• Jeep safari in Yala National Park.

Day 9: Full Day Birding in Sinharaja

• Another day to track hard-to-find endemics.

Day 10: Departure

• Transfer to airport for departure.
